Wine Note

Magpie Estate 'The Sack' Barossa Valley Was 15.95

On a fabulous deal due to a big restaurant cancelling there order! 4 off and 5 a bottle off by the case, whilst stocks last. This year the Sack comes from 3 different vineyards and contains around 10% Eden Valley Shiraz. As ever aged in a mixture of American and French oak both 300 litre and 475 litre barrels, around 30% new oak this year, the balance in mostly 1 year old barrels but also some older oak. in the blend.
2017 was a really good vintage. . The wine has lovely black cherry, ripe plum, hints of cassis with spice on the nose, some creamy oak and a hint of chocolate.
Juicy and opulent on the palate- black cherry, plum and blackcurrant with some hints of red berry fruit too, subtle notes of liquorice and black pepper with some creamy oak. Tannins are ripe. It's a medium bodied style of Sack which is drinking well now and over the next 5-7 years.
