Charles Melton 'Nine Popes'

, 2010

Australia Red

Barossa Valley 75cl

I love this wine and have been selling it since the 1988 vintage. This new 2009 is one of the best i have ever tasted, fabulous with some aged roast beef sirloin from the fabulous East London Steak Company. It's mainly Shiraz with old vine Grenache and usually a dollop of old vine Mourvedre, but no mention of this on label and website. Aged in 66% French oak, 34% American oak- 25% new.
Deep in colour, quite perfumed with lovely black and red berry fruit, spice and cedary sweet new oak characters. Vibrant on the palate, lovely sweet ripe berry fruits again ripe berries and plum with lovely spice and creamy oak. It's plush and rich, the tannins are really ripe and it's hugely inviting now, though of course has great potential to age. Textured and simply awesome, i love it!!
