Made from old bush vine Palomino (the main grape in sherry), planted in 1977 this has often disappeared in blends, but here it on its own! An often innocuous, neutral cultivar, when it’s vines are allowed to get really old it’s yields to drop you can get the personality of this wine. It’s quiet on the nose and palate but persistent with notes almond skin, fennel and even a little jasmine, even a touch of white peach after a while, all this follows on the palate with a bright natural acidity and a teasing top note of grassy fennel and almond nuttiness. Drink it slowly to take all this in. Opens up really well, an intriguing, dry nutty wine with spice and a hint of peach.
