Willamette Valley, Oregon "The Very Special Reserve is a wine we only make in very special vintages (and 2015 may very well rank amongst the very best), and when we have particularly exquisite material in select lots from the vineyards we work with. With its early start, warm even season and brilliant September finish, 2015 was just that year and the Luminous Hills and Bjornson vineyards (a selection of Pommard, 777, and 667 clones) both brought highly distinctive elements to this wine that start with the finely woven array of red fruit and spices in the nose, broad texture and multi- dimensional flavors on the palate, and then that most prized of Pinot noir qualities: a silky, velvety, lengthy finish. 97 cases produced. 13.7% alcohol. 25% new French oak (Billon Vosges). Sappy, pure and focused on the palate, offering mineral-tinged black raspberry, cherry cola and lavender pastille flavours and a hint of five-spice powder.
