Provence Rosé Group 'Ultimate Provence'
I had my reservations, the name, the ribbed bottle but this is good maybe even very good. A blend of Grenache Noir (30%) Cinsault (30%) Syrah (30%) Rolle (10%) that seems to work very well classic wild strawberry, a flick of white pepper and a bit of leaf/blossom on the nose. I think though it's the palate that might set it apart from £10-£15 Provenance offerings, It's just more complex ( which might not be what people want ) lots of the flavours of a red wine with the texture of a white wine, maybe the 10% Rolle/Vermentino is a stroke of genius and adds a bit of fat to the taught complexity ? Imagine a bone dry strawberry and pepper cheese cake, at least that's what I get ! Very food versatile and could cope with most white meat dishes. Didn't really want to like this given the hype of many brands from this part of the world but I did, £20 a bottle ? You try it and tell me
