Eisele Vineyard Pre Release Offer

Our latest offering from this wonderful estate, now in it's fifth year under the ownership of Artemis Domaines. Very limited quantities as expected!

2017 Vintage Report
“The 2017 growing season was a new occasion to realize the consistency and resilience of the vineyard under the occasional pressure of the Napa Valley climate. The deep alluvial soils of volcanic sediment, cobbles and gravel on both sides of Simmons Creek represent the immovable element and the signature of Eisele Vineyard. The roots have slowly established themselves in these rare soils and developed a symbiotic ability to weather extremes, which has been magnified by organic and biodynamic farming for more than two decades. In 2017, the response of the vineyard to stress in June and September materialized in a very small crop of tiny berries showing remarkable concentration.
The challenge of the 2017 growing season also highlights the importance of patience, observation, creativity and sensitive craft on the part of our farming and winemaking team. Selection was severe as always and extractions were kept very gentle, revealing the natural finesse, balance and elegance of the estate fruit while harnessing the power and energy of the vintage. For this reason, we are particularly proud to present this new release, which stands as the smallest production of the Eisele Vineyard Cabernet since 1992.”

2018 Vintage Report
“The 2018 winter received only a third of the previous year’s rainfall. Combined with low temperatures in February, this lack of precipitation led to a late budbreak. However, generous spring rain arrived, lasting until the first days of April, while cool temperatures continued to slow down the growth of the canopy. This led to extremely balanced vines with little need for intervention. Bloom was one of the latest on record, occurring on May 24th. The fruit set was generous with beautifully full clusters of Sauvignon. The ensuing summer was mild, without extreme climate demand, creating ideal ripening conditions for white grapes with little to no need for irrigation. Continuing amiable weather in August allowed a slow maturation of the fruit. As a result, our team was able to harvest each block with great precision, at optimal ripeness.
Unusually, harvest of the Sauvignon Blanc went on for a record 2 weeks, between August 27th and September 10th, capturing the fruit at the peak of its expression. The wine shows great complexity reflecting all the different nuances of the terroir.
The wines were aged on their lees for 12 months, in a combination of stainless steel (35%), concrete eggs (12%), used oak (33%) and new oak (20%).”

Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

USA

"Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon displays a deep garnet-purple color and is a little sluggish to reveal its fragrant core of plum preserves, crème de cassis, blueberry compote and Morello cherries with accents of stewed Darjeeling tea, underbrush, cloves and tobacco leaf plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, the palate struts it stuff with amazing poise, structured with very fine, ripe tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and perfumed." 97/100 Robert Parker

Eisele Vineyard 'Altagracia' 2017

USA

"This vintage has a bit less Petit Verdot than usual, but basically remains about 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with splashes of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Altagracia leaps from the glass, offering bold, expressive notes of blackberry pie, Black Forest cake and warm cassis with hints of garrigue, mossy tree bark, dusty soil and black pepper plus a fragrant waft of cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers a great core of rich, spicy black fruit preserves, framed with firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing earthy." 93/100 Robert Parker

Eisele Vineyard Syrah 2017

USA

“Shy at first, the nose of the 2017 Syrah expresses aromas of beef broth and tapenade, opening on blackberry and dark cherry. The palate is an explosion of sweet and savory flavors framed by velvety tannins. Loaded with juicy ripe fruit, the wine lingers with vanilla, griotte cherry, plum tart and hints of almond powder.”
