Wine Note

Keith Tulloch 'Field of Mars'

Tulloch in the Hunter Valley's finest fruit, selected from a tiny (and very exceptional) close-planted dry-farmed 0.25ha block of 40+year-old Chardonnay vines, providing fruit with the most vibrant, exotic and powerful varietal characters. Barrel Fermented in 100% new fine French oak. Only 1440 bottles produced.
Intense and intensely focused proof of truly great Aussie Chardonnay. Australia is so good at doing this properly great wine. Everything is in balance. It smells leesy with a bright, freshly toasted almond nuttiness, ‘Premier Cru’… even ‘Grand Cru’ nose from well used oak married with slightly sweet natural tones. The continuity is superb as the nose follows through onto the palate. This is a really young wine that’s lemony, citrus, bright, and beautifully crafted. This Hunter Chardonnay puts many a fine Burgundy at double the cost to shame.
