El Esteco 'Old Vines 1945'

A stunning old vine Torrontes from El Esteco. The vines dating back to 1845 are from the high altitude Calchaquí Valleys in Salta.
Hand harvested, partial whole bunch, wild yeast fermentation in a single cement egg, aged 11 months on lees and bottled unfiltered. Just 4,000 bottles produced. I tasted this a few months ago at Tim Atkin's top 100 Argentinean wine tasting and it blew me away. I had and have never tasted such good Torrontes. He gave it 95 points. Fabulously aromatic nose with peach, mandarin, jasmine, blossom, pineapple and musky spice.
Crisp and tangy with a lovely intensity, a creamy texture too and again mandarin, peach, citrus and musky spice, it retains a lovely freshness. Quite superb.
