The 2009 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is 70% Nero d'Avola (aged in oak) and 30% Frappato (aged in steel), a marriage that works beautifully. The Frappato adds freshness and verve to the dark fruit of the Nero d'Avola. This may be even better than the 2008 and was a superm match to a home made lasagne this evening. Bright red and black cherry on the nose, medium bodied with lovely sweet black cherry fruit on the palate, a touch of dried herb, ripe soft tannins and a long finish with plum and oak, that is beautifuly integrated, Really delicious and brilliantly balanced.
