Peter Lehmann 'The Mentor'
, 2006
Australia Red
Barossa 75cl
Another excellent Mentor Cabernet from Lehmann. Much lauded, it's easy tosee why. Aged in French oak for 18 months and coming from various vineyard areas mostly in the north and western ridges of the Barossa Valley. Blackcurrant on the nose with dried herb, spice and oak, a touch of tobacco too. It's dense with great palate weight, cassis and spice, dried herbs, ripe yet firm tannins and perfectly integrated oak, good acidity keeps the wine fresh and alive. Clearly got years ahead of it, yet still quite approachable, was delicious with some simply seasoned barnsley lamb chops.Top quality, rich, yet elegant.
