Peter Lehmann 'Mentor'
Cabernet Sauvignon, 2004
Australia Red
Barossa 75cl
A superb Cabernet named in honour of founder Peter Lehmann. The best parcels of Cabernet are used many around 60 years of age. Aged 18 months in French oak hogsheads. Deep in colour, perfumed cassis with leather, tobacco, cedar and oak. It's juicy and dense with deep black cherry and cassis fruit, chocolate oak and spice, it's got ripe tannins and integrated oak. Long and complex with great depth, rich fruit and lovely integrated oak, Lehmann have long made great Cabernets and this is another. Graphite, cedar, spice all in balance, leading to a long finish, seriously impressive and will age effortlessly for 10 years though with food very approachable now. Top quality.
