Kurt Angerer
Gruner Veltliner 'Spies', 2007
Austria
Kamptal 75cl
The new 2007's from Kurt Angerer are looking really good. Only just bottled but all showing well. The new Spies is as impressive as ever. From mature vines in a granitic vineyard. Aged mostly in steel with just 10 % in oak, mostly second fill. Ripe stone fruits and citrus on the nose with a touch of spice and pepper. It's ripe and full. Tangy stone fruits, citrus and spice. It's really minerally with a limey streak running through. It's got lovely weight and is really pure. Long and impressive and sure to flesh out over the coming months and go on to age for several years.
