Another fabulous new release from L'Ecole 41. This is 98% Syrah and 2% Carmenere harvested fully ripe. Aged in barriques, around 30% new. Full, rich, meaty nose, with black fruits spice and mocha. Big and voluptuous with lovely sweet black fruits and a savoury edge. Plain chocolate, liquorice, mocha and toasty oak. It's young but loaded with fruit. Powerful with ripe tannins. It's long and complex and just a little tight on the finish. If the 2002 was anything to go by this will be more open and fleshy in a few months with great potential to age for many years.
