Anakena 'Ona'
Cabernet-Merlot-Carmenere, 2003
Chile Red
Rapel Valley 75cl
Follow up vintage to the 2002 is every bit as impressive. The separate components (the blend is usually Cab dominant with equal parts of Merlot and Carmenere) are blended together from the best barrels after 12 months in oak the resultant blend is then aged for a further 4 months . All the ageing is done in French oak (of unspecified age, probably a mix)
Full flavoured and complex with rich plum and damson and fruit cake. It's also long complex and structured with the flavour components identifiable but well married.
Super stuff for under £10
