Kavaklidere Winery 'Angora'
Sultana, 2003
Turkey
Aegean 75cl
Not tried many Turkish wines. We have recently been sent some as samples. It's also the first wine i have tried made with the humble sultana. Apparently picked early to keep it fresh. It's still 14% alcohol. Grapey nose, not showing a huge amount of fruit. Quite honeyed on the palate with gentle citrus and honey. Sadly it's really quite dilute on the finish and lacks acidity. It tastes like it needs to be bottled really young, with a screwcap and it may make an OK wine, but needs zip. It's only £4.50 retail but is only a curiosity purchase at best.
