Best's 'Thomson Family'
Shiraz, 1994
Not Specified
Australia,Victoria 75cl
This is Best's of Great Western in Victoria's best Shiraz, first made in 1992 i believe. Only 13% alcohol, but none the worse for it. Quite different in style to other vintages i have tried. Perfumed, and elegant in style. Nothing unripe, it shows a touch of leather and cedar on the nose, with perfumed red fruits and some oak. The palate is very much alive with vibrant red fruits, some typical black pepper and spice. It is coming into it's own and is drinking beautifully. The fruit, oak and tannin beautifully melded and long and complex. At 10 years old this still has potential but is soft and elegant with lovely complexity. The fruit still has vibrancy, yet is well into it's second stage of development. Proof that power is not everything. Top class.
