Yering Station 'M.V.R'

Marsanne, Rousanne, Vionier, 2003

Not Specified

Australia, Yarra Valley 75cl

This blend apparently recreates the original plantings at Yering Station from 1850. A blend of 72% Marsanne, 23% Rousanne, 5% Viognier. Obviously very young. It has a pale colour. The nose shows the stone fruit and apricot of Marsanne. A touch of lime and white peach from the Rousanne too. Quite broad but with nice mouthfilling fruit, almost creamy on the finish, and for low acid varieties good acidity. Nutty Marsanne with a touch of honey and apricot dominates at the moment. It really is quite Rhone-like. It needs time for the fruit to open up and sing and is a little too broad and nutty at present but promises good things. Interesting wine at around £10.
