Spain, Vina Tierra de Leon 75cl
Leon is not a DO and covers a large area from Galicia to Rioja. Chiefly responsible for uninspiring wines. This is a cracking new release, that was Jancis Robinson's wine of the week for the 7th October. Aged in oak for 6 months. It is a wonderfully characterful red at a fair price. Red fruits, with a smoky character and some vanillan oak on the nose. Medium bodied and really juicy. It's a touch rustic, but this adds to the charm, juicy and chewy with plum and cherry fruit softened with some creamy oak. It is indeed very drinkable, in a lovely understated way. Good stuff! Price to be confirmed butb £6-£6.50 and well worth it!
