Alpha Domus 'The Navigator'
Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, 1999
New Zealand, Hawkes Bay 75cl
Hand picked, basket pressed and aged for 18 months in French and American barriques. Warm, cassis and plum on the nose, some sweet oak too. A medium bodied attractive offering. Lovely sweet cassis, cherry and cedar. Even a touch of forest floor. Juicy and with delicate fruits, it's a touch dilute-a product of an average vintage. Though is well made with sweet and savoury fruit. If you have any drink up and enjoy the excellent follow-up 2000 vintage. Decent bordeaux look-a-like nothing more.
