Boekenhoutskloof 'The Wolftrap'
South Africa, Western Cape 75cl
The blend is not specified in this new 'cheapie' from Boekenhoutskloof. Quite rustic, smoky and gamey-in fact very South African smelling. It smells like some Pinotage is in the blend. Young and upfront it is very soft quite creamy with that odd smoky slightly bitter character. Red fruits too. I just cannot get beyond the smoky bitter almost iodine characters. This is a traight in many South African reds and not one i favour. Unbalanced. £5.99 Oddbins.
