Planalto Reserva
N/A, 2002

Portugal/Douro 75cl
From the (in)famous Sogrape Estate who make such beauties as Mateus Rosé...well my trip there a couple of years ago was absolutely shocking, with some of the most vile and insipid wines I have tried from one producer, not to mention seeing entire hedgerows being thrown into the crusher - I hope I never try that 'wine'.
However this particular wine, brought back by girlfriend, was actually more than reasonable. The labels make no mention of the grape varieties (no surprise there). Dry and fresh yet with surprising texture and weight on the palate; plenty of nutty stone fruit characters with a citrus zip that kept the palate lively, this was a very enjoyable drink. 86pts.
