Viv Thomson and his Best's operation is a key winery in the Great Western region of Victoria,Auastralia. This is i believe their debut Merlot.It's not Merlot as we commonly find in the new world eg Chile and even California.It is far bigger and denser as many of this wines are from this estate and in fact this region.It has a touch of typical mint with ripe plummy fruit and oak. The palate is full on again mint loads of spicy red berry fruit and creamy toasty oak-American. a super drink great with chargrilled food and most Mediterranean dishes. Although young it does have typical soft tannins and a fleshy drinkability. a good effort indeed and at £9.99 pretty good value.
