Les Cépages Oubliés
Cinsault-Grenache, 2011
France Provence & Regional
Pays D'Oc I G P 75cl
An interesting idea in marketing these 'forgotten' grape varieties.
I don't really think they were ever forgotten but as more and more wines began to state grape varieties on the label ( 15 years ago it was just a bottle of vin de pays, who cares what's in it does it taste nice) these things become important
Packaging distressed but quaint. Deep red with a ruby rim and cherry and rhubarb on the nose plus a hint of herbs. Bright ,modern flavours with plenty of red fruit from the Grenache that seems to run riot on the palate and the Cinsault just adds this herbal edge and some colour (no bad thing)
Overall it's pretty tasty
