Glen Carlou
Pinot Noir, 2010
South Africa Red
Paarl 75cl
This is the most elegant and maybe pure expression of Pinot from Glen Carlou yet, it's still not especially Burgundian but is more elegant than previous releases.
Aged 10 months in French oak and made from the new clones of Pinot Noir.
Fairly pale in colour, quite perfumed with raspberry and cherry fruit, spice and oak.
It's a light to medium bodied Pinot with bright red fruits, raspberry and cherry with some mocha and spice, good acidity and balanced toasty oak on the finish. Much more varietal than previous releases and without any South African funk, has a savoury finish and is without doubt Glen Carlou's most autrhentic Pinot Noir to date and well priced.
