Filature IGP Pays d'Oc
Grenache, 2009
France Provence & Regional Red
Pays d'Oc 75cl
The Filature wines are made by well known Antipodean winemakers John Worontschak and Sam Harrop and are small parcels of handcrafted wines. The Chardonnay comes from a very old vineyard on the Southern Coast of France near to the seaside town of Meze. Low rainfall, plenty of sunshine and cool night temperatures make these grapes ideal. Hands off, very natural winemaking techniques are employed.
Bright fruit on the nose with red berry and cherry, a touch of meat and pepper too. It's quitye silky on the palate and everything is well integrated, spicy red berry and plum fruit with pepper and a touch of dried herb and pepper, integrated oak and ripe tannins, long and really quite silky. Lovely textured Grenache that is really pure and drinking really well.
