This wine has apparently been very succesfull in South Africa, and was brought over for a tasting at mine by my friend Richard Gordon, who has a keen palate and an eye for some of the new exciting wines coming out of South Africa. This Viognier performed very well in our blind tasting. From grapes grown on high evalation vineyards, classic honeysuckle and blossom with apricot and a touch of spice, on a very varietal nose.
It's a rich style with lovely ripe Viognier fruit, textured with a creamy mid palate and decent acidity. Spice and stone fruit on the long finish, with some delicate phenolics that will soften with age. Clearly very young, i would like to see this again in a few months, but shows a lot of potential.
