Ashbrook Estate
Sauvignon Blanc, 2011
Australia White
Margaret River 75cl
A super-charged Savvy from the most unlikely of areas.
14.5% alcohol is unusual for Sauvignon Blanc from almost any area.
Packaging is awful. It's still quite pale in the glass so skin contact must have been fairly minimal. A big broad tropical nose almost heading towards Chardonnay flavours but with a little more mango and zest over the peach and nectarine. Full and rich on the palate with more stone fruit flavours. I quite like it but don't reckon I could convince many regular drinker of Sauvignon that they should convert to this.
Interesting, different, enjoyable in a weird way and badly presented..
