Carpineto Poggio Sant 'Enrico Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
, 2001
Italy Red
Tuscany 75cl
I was tipped off about this wine by my good friend Curtis Marsh, based in Singapore and who has a great website- www.thewanderingpalate.com
A 10 year old Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Just showing some development colour-wise. Mature sweet Sangiovese on the nose with cedar, dried herb and spice. Lovely mature drop with some meaty sweet fruit allied to cedar and dried herbs with good acidity. It's at it's peak now and was a lovely match to some Old Spot roast Pork, Curtis had it with lamb and i can see that being a great match. Rare to see mature wines as current releases and this is quite delicious in a savoury way.
