Antica Terra Willamette Valley
Pinot Noir, 2009
USA Oregon
Willamette Valley 75cl
Antica Terra is an Oregon winery owned by the ex Sine Qua Non assistant winemaker Maggie Harrison. The wines have had great success from the start, and from the few i have tried deservedly so. The 2008 is and was delicious, we have a few left, really voluptuous and sexy and one of the best Pinot's from Oregon i have tried for sheer pleasure. The new 2009 is very similar, clearly unfiltered, wonderful ripe cherry and raspberry on the nose with some smokey oak and spice. It's medium bodied and for sure not one of those over extracted Oregon styles. It's got a creamy, lush, textured mid palate with lovely cherry and plum, again spice and some smokiness. Ripe tannins and just a touch of grip on the finish ensure this is a savoury style and one that will age too. It's not Burgundy, but for Pinot lovers this rivals some of the best in terms of texture and style.
