Descendientes de J.Palacios Bierzo 'Petalos'
, 2009
Spain Red
Bierzo 75cl
Stunning wine made by the supremely talented Alvario Palacios (L'Ermita etc)
This is the entry level of his range of wines from Bierzo. Made from grapes in rented vineyards ranging from 40-90 years of age, spending around 4 months in new French oak before transferring to larger older oak. It's a touch bigger than the very popular 2008. Deep in colour, warm and plummy, a touch of Mencia red berry perfume with a touch of meat and toasty oak. Full and rich with lovely bright plummy fruit, again a hint of red berry- concentrated strawberry with dried herbs, spice and creamy oak, It's vibrant with good acidity and a style I really love, I am more and more taken with the wines of Galicia. Will age for 3-5 years too.
