Gusbourne Estate

Pinot Noir, 2007

United Kingdom England

Appledore, Kent 75cl

We have recently taken delivery of the highly rated sparkling wines from the new Gusbourne Estate, more on those later. This is their still red Pinot Noir, that they made for fun apparently, only a few hundred bottles from very young vines. 12% alcohol, it's a pretty decent attempt. Pale red in colour, some raspberry fruit on the nose with some green stalky notes too. It's got some nice sweet fruit, raspberry and cherry, good acidity too and soft tannins. It is just a touch green, and is not a great wine, but it has good fruit, and is juicy and perfectly tasty. Definitely an estate to follow, and if this their first Pinot Noir is anything to go buy, weather allowing they should only make better wines. As it stands it's still one of the best English reds i have tasted.
