Vina Cobos is the project of famous Californian winemaker and consultant Paul Hobbs, joining forces with Argentinian winemakers Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud. The 2006 Bramare Malbec spent 18 months in French and American oak including 38% new American and was bottled without fining or filtration (as are all of Hobbs’ wines when possible). It's a very impressive red for sure and for me was one of the star wines of our Christmas wine fair. Deep colour with a lovely rich nose of black cherry, malt extract, spice and toasty oak with chocolate too. It's got real power and texture, soft, rich and beguiling. Sweet and savoury with black cherry, chocolate, oak, meat and spice. Great length too. Fabulous wine!
