Langmeil 'Three Gardens'
Shiraz-Grenache-Mourvedre, 2006
Australia Red
Barossa Valley 75cl
A blend of 43% Shiraz, 37% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre. Last encountered in a 175ml bottle on a long haul flight. Seemed great then... Dense spicy nose, berry fruit with white and black pepper. It's rich and fairly juicy, savoury and spicy, needs a little more red fruit to give it a lift. It's really pretty good and makes a good contrast to a Southern Rhone blend. Just a little more life and a lick of fresher oak, would make this very attractive. As it is it's still a decent drink for sure. Hint of heat on the finish too.
