Peter Lehmann 'The Black Queen'
Sparkling Shiraz, 2005
One of my favourite sparklng Shiraz, this is a brand new release, the last being the still available, for now 2001. Ripe Barossa Shiraz spends 12 months in oak prior to 2 years aging in the bottle, whilst undergoing a secondary fermentation. Sweet plum and cassis on the nose, hints of christmas cake too. It's rich on the palate with berry fruits, black cherry and plum too. It's a touch sweeter than the 2001, but is a delicious example crying out for marinated foods and of course Christmas tucker!
