Mullygrubber
Chardonnay, 2008
Australia White
South Eastern Australia 75cl
Another cricketing themed wine that's entering the market. Most cricket lovers will know what a 'grubber' is (a ball that doesn't bounce as expected but keeps low) but for some reason those down under have stuck the name 'Mully' in front of this.
Enough cricket talk (who's just won the bloody ashes anyway)
It's not a bad drop to be told. The nose is of nectarine and peach blossom and the palate is similar with nice stone fruits that don't get too waxy or syrupy. Don't think there is any oak treatment but also would not be suprised if a bit of 'teabag ' was used as it has some honeyed richness to it
Also ran Shiraz Cabernet 2008
Too sweet and confected. Not totally awful but way below our exisiting wines in this category
