The enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable winemaker Francois van Zyl came in to the shop and kindly showed us his range of new vintages. Most were of a high standard but these few in particular stood out.
Great quality Chenin, an example of just how good this variety can deliver from South Africa; quite spicy and honeyed on the nose, seductive almost. The palate is sumptuous stuff, both unctuous and racy at the same time. Lovely minerals and that spice note again, underpinned by a zippy acidity of lemons/apples.
