I have long been a fan of these wines and used to import them. They age really well over 10 years or so, the 1996, 1997 and 1998 have all drunk beautifully over the last 12 months. Morello cherry and plum on the nose with some meaty characters, spice, black pepper and liquorice too. It's taken a while to open up with dense sweet black fruits, tightly wound with spice and pepper. It's rich with ripe but firm tannins. it's deep and dark and very young, yet shows massive potential. These wines really do age well, and i think think this will also cellar very well.
Just had another bottle and it's still a young wine, savoury and meaty with some sweet cassis and black cherry, plum too. Dense with rich fruits, spice pepper and liquorice, this is a brooding deep wine that should age extremely well. So no real change. Impressive for sure.
