Punt Road
Pinot Gris, 2006
Australia White
Yarra Valley 75cl
Punt Road are in the Yarra Valley which has sadly been besieged by bush fires. They had a lucky escape with just some damage to the buildings, but could have been engulfed if the wind had changed...some were not so lucky. All very sad. However to their wines. This Pinot Gris was partly aged in oak. The current release back home is 2008, but this Pinot Gris is looking good with a couple of years of bottle age. Stone fruits, ripe melon, honey and hints of creamy oak. It's crisp and tangy with lovely ripe apple, melon and stone fruits. Zesty with a touch of oak that gives palate weight and length. Really quite delicious now. Would be great with creamy seafoo dishes and shellfish.
