Bodegas Y Vinedos O Fournier 'Alfa Spiga'
, 2004
Spain Red
Ribera del Duero 75cl
Fournier makes really good wines in Spain and Argentina. This comes in a very hefty bottle! The 2004 Alfa Spiga underwent malolactic fermentation in new oak followed by 18 months aging in new French and American oak before bottling without filtration. Rich on nose with ripe plum and black cherry, blackberry, meat and spices too. Also toasty oak- all very appealing. It's a big wine. Lovely dense rich ripe red and black berry fruits, plain chocolate, meat, liquorice, toasty oak and tannins. Wow, it's a really big wine with lots of great elements, if this comes together and the tannins soften it could be a great wine. Just too much of everything for drinking now. 2004 is a great year so no surprise of it's potential agability.
