Kurt Angerer
Gruner Veltliner 'Spies', 2006
Austria
Kamptal 75cl
Kurt Angerer is really happy with his 2006 wines. A long cool vintage has produced some fabulous wines including some stunning reds which we will ship in the Autumn. The Spies comes from a vineyard that soil wise is 100% Granite. Picked fully ripe -14.5% alcohol- Spies is always more powerful and half to one degree more alcohol than his other Gruner's. This was a big hit at the London wine trade fair that i have just got back from. Really aromatic. Stone fruits, honey and spice- quite floral also. It's weighty and rich but also very fresh. The alcohol is completely hidden. Stone fruits and spice with great acidity. It's full but also elegant with a long minerally finish. Shows great potential. We will be shipping this and many of the other superb 2006 whites very soon.
