A delicious well priced South African white. White peach and citrus, with ripe apple on a floral nose. Tangy and fresh with ripe pear and tropical fruits, tangy citrus including pineapple on the finish. A crisp, fresh, unoaked blend of Chardonnay and Albarino. Lovely zesty nose with limey citrus, apple and pineapple. Dry and really clean, tangy and incredibly fresh, lime and pineapple fruit to the fore. Really refreshing and an excellent value. Way too drinkable!

The new vintage of this excellent Picpoul here, one of those wines many of us will have had in the south of France while on holiday. A quite fragrant, tangy, citrus style, with lovely grapey fruit not unlike a proper Pinot Grigio, with lovely melon, green apple and pear on the palate. Crisp and clean with a touch of pear drop on the finish.

Chateau de Campuget 'Le Campuget' Vin de Pays du Gard Syrah-Viognier 2011
France
This is a new line for the excellent Chateau de Campuget. Screw capped with a simple label and clear bottle- looks good. It's quite a simple young wine, but is particularly good of it's type. Bright red berry fruits on the nose, spice, pepper and delicate floral notes. It's really young and juicy, vibrant with really soft tannins, ridiculously easy to drink and was great with a chicken and spicy chorizo dish, it did not compete and was really very successful. It's a very decent red, best served with a light chill, simple but very tasty.

Bodegas Borsao 'Seleccion Tinto' 2012
Spain
This is the next level up from Bodegas Borsao- the Seleccion. A blend of predominantly (c80%) Garnacha with some Syrah and Tempranillo. From mature vines and unoaked.
Really deep, dark vibrant colour. Bright black cherry and plum with a meaty denseness to it on the nose. It's a full flavoured bright, juicy wine with gobs of sweet black berry and cherry fruit, spice and pepper with soft, ripe tannins. This is just perfect when you need a big bold red that's pretty soft and very approachable- barbecues etc, but would work well with chorizo and other spicy spanish dishes.
This may be the best Seleccion I have tried yet and is an amazing value!

Septima Malbec 2011
Argentina
The new 2011 has arrived and it's another cracker! Deep in colour, smokey on the nose with black cherry. It's rich and full with lovely dark berry and cherry fruits, spice, pepper and hints of liquorice and chocolate. Lively and fresh, dark and savoury with bags of fruit, still very user friendly and an excellent value. Tannins are soft, though present and there is a lick of creamy oak.
Perfect with rich stews, casseroles and red meat dishes.
